Lae and Madang Airports are important economic hubs for PNG in terms of agriculture, fisheries and tourism and both appointments are strategic in driving NAC’s business and development goals at these airports.
Jack Pilai, is an experienced member of the NAC leadership team at the Regional Airports with 3 years’ experience and strong expertise in diverse areas of airport operations after managing Newcrest Mining Limited’s private Airport (Lihir Kunaye) for 15 years.
In his last role as Airport Operations Manager (AOM) for Madang Airport, Mr Pilai led a team of 50 officers across Madang, Wewak, Vanimo and Momote Airports and was instrumental in achieving four years Aerodrome Operating Certificates (ADOC) for these four airports.
This is an important achievement for NAC in terms of compliance with airport safety standards and requirements.
Most other regional airports are certified for one year six months by CASA PNG.
Meantime, Eddie Danwer, a long serving staff and a career Airport Maintenance and Construction Inspector with NAC for almost 36 years will now take up Mr Pilai’s former role as Airport Operations Manager for Madang Airport.
As part of his role, Mr Danwer will also oversee operations at Wewak, Vanimo and Momote Airports.
